When it comes to air shows, finding the right spot to view the show can sometimes be problematic. Getting the right spot with a good view, and not to much, or to little sound from the PA is never easy. Then you must sit in that spot no matter what or you might miss something. This is not a problem at the Indianapolis Air Show. For the third year The Indianapolis Air Show offers a service that allow guests to sit anywhere and still hear the show announcers crystal clear. Flight Line Radio keeps you connected to the show anywhere on the grounds, allowing patrons to roam about the displays and vendors and still hear all of the action. With a Flight Line Radio receiver guests can be anywhere on the grounds and still hear perfectly. The receiver is a credit card sized personal radio with earbuds. The Flight Line Radio receiver can also be reused at future Indianapolis Air Shows as well as other major air shows like Oshkosh and Lakeland.

Flight Line Radio donates its services to the Indianapolis Air Show Charities and the proceeds from the sales also support the charities. Radio receivers are available at the air show retail tent before and during the show. The Indianapolis Air Show is at the Mount Comfort Airport August 22-24, 2008.

Country Music Artist Laura Bryna to Perform at Indianapolis Air Show Saturday, Aug. 23

(Nashville, Tenn.) – Equity Music Group recording artist Laura Bryna will perform at the upcoming Indianapolis Air Show on August 23. The 12th annual Indianapolis Air Show takes place August 22-24 at the Mount Comfort Airport in Indianapolis. Bryna hits the stage, located next to the Indy Aero building, at 5 p.m.

Recently named the voice and spokesperson for the Air Guard’s new major advertising campaign, Bryna just filmed the video for a new country song she co-wrote, “Hometown Heroes,” which honors Air Guard men and women who answer the call of duty to serve their communities and country. The song will become the official theme song of the Air Guard’s year-long radio and television ad campaign, meant to educate men and women about this branch of the military that supports the needs of the U.S. Air Force, aids communities in times of crisis and supports the nation’s Homeland Defense Department.

The Air Guard’s unique dual mission involves response to emergencies both at both the state level and nationwide. When natural disasters hit a state, the governor (or appropriate official) relies on the Air Guard to save lives, rescue neighbors and deliver critical supplies to those in need. Additionally, the Air Guard is relied on for federal missions, answering the President’s call for overseas humanitarian aid or support of our nation’s Homeland Defense efforts. Currently, there are over 140 Air Guard units in the United States and its territories.

“We are extremely excited to have Laura Bryna perform during this year’s Air Show,” said Bob Duncan, chairman of the 2008 charity event. “It will be a great concert and a great addition to the affordable, family fun!”

The Air Show, which draws about 100,000 people annually, will feature entertainment for the entire family, including the 50th anniversary NASA “Journey to Tomorrow” exhibit, wing walkers, stunt planes, a hot air “balloonathon,” Warbirds and additional military exhibits. Net proceeds benefit the Central Indiana Community Foundation – a foundation that has received more than $1.3 million for children’s charities from the Indianapolis Air Show since the show’s inception in 1997.

Discounted advance tickets for the 12th annual Indianapolis Air Show are now on sale for $17 for adults and $8 for children ages 6-12. These tickets are available for purchase at Marsh, O’Malia’s and United Package Liquors stores or online. Tickets will be available at the gate, but will increase to $20 for an adult ticket and $10 for a child.

Bryna’s debut CD from Equity Music Group, TRYING TO BE ME, is currently available in stores and online at iTunes. To celebrate this “one-month-out” date, Air Show organizers announced today that discounted tickets are now available at Marsh, O’Malia’s and United Package Liquors stores.

If you buy your tickets in advance at one of these local stores, or online at www.indyairshow.com, prior to the Aug. 22-24 Air Show, you will pay $17 for an adult ticket and $8 for a child’s (age 6 to 12). That’s a savings of $3 and $2, respectively, off of the price you’d pay at the gate.

No matter when you buy your tickets, though, one thing is for sure: they’re passes that will get you into the most spectacular Air Show in the Midwest!

The U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command F-22A Demonstration Team will headline this year’s charity event at Mt. Comfort Airport. The F-22A Raptor, a fighter jet that is truly a modern marvel of technology, tops an impressive list of performers that also includes the U.S. Army’s parachute team, the Golden Knights.

Recently added to this year’s Air Show is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA’s) “Journey to Tomorrow,” an exhibit that is marking its 50th anniversary this year. Journey to Tomorrow will bring a 53-foot trailer that’s been transformed into an interactive environment packed with hands-on activities and learning stations.

Wingwalkers, stunt planes, a hot air “balloonathon,” Warbirds and additional military exhibits will also be featured during the 2008 Air Show. Among the others who have signed on: Gene Soucy and Teresa Stokes, Greg Poe, John Klatt, Michael Wiskus, sponsored by Lucas Oil, and Greg Aldridge. And back again to lend his unmatched announcing skills to the event: Rob Reider.

The Air Show relies primarily on sponsors and volunteers to make their charity event happen every year, and 2008 is no different. The executive committee would like to thank Marsh, United Package Liquors and Indy Aero for their strong support.

Net proceeds from the Indianapolis Air Show go to the Central Indiana Community Foundation. The Indianapolis Air Show has donated more than $1.3 million through CICF to children’s charities since the show’s inception in 1997.

World’s most advanced fighter jets top early list of performers for August 22-24 event benefiting children’s charities.

MOUNT COMFORT, IN — February 22, 2008 — Yes, the F-22A Raptors are stealthy, but there’s no more keeping quiet the fact that the Air Force’s newest, most advanced fighter jets are heading to Central Indiana this summer to thrill the crowds at the 12th Annual Indianapolis Air Show.

The Air Show is proud to announce that the U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command F-22A Demonstration Team will headline this year’s charity event at Mt. Comfort Airport, Aug. 22 through 24. The F-22A Raptors top an early list of performers that also includes the U.S. Army’s parachute team, the Golden Knights, as well as numerous world-class civilian aerobatic entertainers.
The Raptors’ unique combination of stealth, speed, agility, precision and situational awareness, along with their air-to-air and air-to-ground combat capabilities, gives the aircraft numerous advantages over any potential adversary. A modern marvel of technology, the F- 22A just reached full operational capability two years ago; it is currently charged with protecting the skies over the United States.

F-22A demonstrations feature several passes overhead by the fighter aircraft, showcasing its precision aerial maneuvers. The Air Force jets are a must-see at this year’s Air Show, as their appearance here is one of only 25 demonstrations worldwide in 2008.

“The Raptors are among the most sought-after performers on the air show circuit, and we are excited to be on their schedule this year,” said Tom McCord, general manager of the Air Show. “These next generation air fighters are a sight to behold and having them top the list of our incredible performers is just about as good as it gets.”
The Air Show relies primarily on sponsors and volunteers to make their charity event happen every year, and 2008 is no different. The executive committee would like to thank Marsh, United Package Liquors, Indy Aero and Iquest for their strong support.

Net proceeds from the Indianapolis Air Show go to the Central Indiana Community Foundation. The Indianapolis Air Show has donated more than $1.3 million through CICF to children’s charities since the show’s inception in 1997.

Please note: The Air Show line-up is subject to availability and participants’ schedules may, and frequently do, change.

Thousands Turn Out for Indianapolis Air Show

MOUNT COMFORT, IN — September 6, 2007 — Aviation buffs, planes and helicopters all made for a successful 2007 Indianapolis Air Show. The spectacle on the ground and in the sky ended Sunday.
If the concept of flight itself is difficult to understand, acrobatic moves are almost incomprehensible.

“This is a great show. I drove from West Virginia to come here,” said Jerry Delph. “I was here yesterday (Saturday) and had to come back today (Sunday).”

Mother nature cooperated giving spectators the perfect backdrop – low wind, a cloudless sky and mild temperatures.

“Couldn’t have been better, could not have been better,” said Dick Alberti.

And it’s not just what people can do with aircraft, but what they do on them.

“It really is kinda painful. I’m banged up bruised but black and blue from bruises on the wires.”

“I think she must be awful comfortable with an airplane or she’s crazy, one of the other,” said Louis Knox.

Ashley Battles claims to be perfectly sane. This commercial airplane pilot enjoys wing walking as a hobby.

“This is absolutely the most exhilarating thing I’ve ever done and not so much the adrenalin rush that comes from wing-walking while the airplane is doing aerobatics but just the fact that also my huge passion in life is aviation in general,” said Battles.

The aircraft are not just interesting to look at, all of the branches of the military use these air shows as prime opportunities for recruiting.

The Blue Angels may be best known – the Navy’s pride in the air. The Air Force Reserve Rocket Car raises eyebrows on the ground and the Army Sky Soldiers use volunteer veteran pilots to spread the word that the military is a great career path.

“We really can tell our story about how good the opportunities have been and all the chances we’ve been given to lead and do the things that we can,” said LTC J.R. Lam, U.S. Army (retired).

Two days of magic in the air is over. Who knows what new stunts will be dreamed up for next year. Plans for next year’s air show are already underway. It runs August 23-24, 2008.
Media Contact:
