Air Show Location, Driving and Fly-In Directions

The Indianapolis Air Show takes place at the Mount Comfort Airport (KMQJ), located 12 miles east of Indianapolis. While the most obvious route would appear to be I-70, savvy drivers avoid traffic delays by using our preferred routes listed below!
Preferred Traffic Routes
How to get to the show and the best ways to get back home. Print a copy of the preferred travel routes for 2007 and also take a look at a detailed map of the area (see below). Signs will be posted in the local area guiding you to the show. Our expanded parking and free trams will make your stay a pleasure.

Coming To the Air Show
From NORTH EAST INDIANA, Anderson, Muncie, Marion, Fortville, Pendleton or down I-69 from elsewhere take Exit # 21, IND 67 south past Fortville to 500 W and follow signs and Officers’ direction to parking. —OR— Take I-69 to Exit #10 (IN 238) to Olio Rd. south, then follow the signs and Officers’ direction to parking.
From SOUTH EAST INDIANA, Shelbyville, Greensburg, Cincinnati, or I-74: Take IND 9 north thru Greenfield past I-70 (3 miles) to 600 N turn left follow the signs and Officers’ direction to parking.
From EASTERN INDIANA, Rushville, Richmond, Newcastle, Rushville: Take I-70 east to IND 9 North to 600 N turn left, then follow signs and Officers’ direction to parking.
From NORTH, Noblesville, Tipton, Elwood: IND 37 to IND 238 past I-69 to Olio Rd South past IND 67, then follow signs and Officers’ direction to parking.
From NORTHERN Marion County, Carmel, Westfield, Whitestown, Zionsville: 146th Street East to IND 37 South To 126th East to Olio Road south, then follow signs and Officers’ direction to parking.
From SOUTH and SOUTHWESTERN INDIANA, Franklin, Columbus, Louisville or Terre Haute use I-65 and I-70 to East I-70 Exit 96 then north on Mt. Comfort Road, then follow signs and Officers’ direction to parking.
From US 40 E or WEST bound: Take C.R. 400W or 600W north, then follow signs and Officers’ direction to parking.

Leaving the Air Show
Safety first — follow the officers’ directions as you exit the air show parking lot. The roads around the airport afford plenty of opportunity to get headed towards home once you are out of the air show parking lots.
I-69 North
- Mt. Comfort Road N becomes Olio Road and leads to SR 238 at I-69.
- 500 W leads to SR 67 N which intersects with I-69 at Anderson.
I-70 East – 600 North goes east to SR 9. SR 9 intersects I-70. Can take I-70 East or West
I-74 East or West – 600 North goes east to SR 9. SR 9 S intersects I-74 N of Shelbyville.
I-465 (without traveling I-70):
- 300 N becomes 38th Street (no I-465 intersection). Several N-S roads can be taken to 42nd St or 56th St.
- 350 N becomes 42nd Street which intersects Pendleton Pike (I-465 intersection)
- 500 N becomes 56th Street (I-465 intersection)
- Mt. Comfort Road South over I-70 to US 40, Right to I-465 intersection.
I-70 West
- Follow any of the above directions to I-465 or to I-70, to avoid the I-70 downtown construction.
- Take I-465 South around Indianapolis to the I-70 W exit on the west side of Indianapolis.
